I feel like comedy and horror are the hardest things to write in a way that stand the test of time. What scared people or what people found funny a couple centuries ago is very remote from today. Meanwhile drama, romance, adventure, even mystery feel more atemporal to me.
Are there good books or articles that touch upon these topics, even tangentially? I’m especially interested in something that would give some advice on how to think about writing horror or comedy as well as the history of it.
Thanks!
PS I posted this in r/books looking for a discussion but I was told to post it here.
