I’m 21 and I haven’t *really* gotten into a new book since high school. I’ve read a few books a year for the last several years. It’s been really hard to get into anything. Because of that, my favorite books are all children’s books and YA (which I’m not opposed to at all, as long as the writing is good enough so that I don’t want to tear my hair out!)
Books that I’ve read countless times and never get tired of:
– The Mysterious Benedict Society series
– The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place series
– The Hunger Games series
– The Phantom Tollbooth
– Scythe series
– Unwind series
– The Selection series
Books that I “outgrew” but really loved for a long time:
– NERDS series
– Secrets of Dripping Fang series
– Zeroes series
– Margaret Peterson Haddix (author)
– Beverly Cleary (author)
Books I’ve enjoyed recently:
– Good Omens
– Percy Jackson series
I’m open to most genres. Clearly from my list I went through a dystopian phase. I’ve enjoyed mysteries and thrillers here and there. Realistic fiction can be good, but without an automatically intriguing plot the characters have to really suck me in. I was never a big fantasy reader but I’ve enjoyed my fair share of those too. Not a romance fan as a genre, but romance subplots are fine. No horror recs, please!
