Hello, I m in a bit of a pickle and I’m looking for some book suggestions for my mom.
English is not our first language and my mom asked me to recommend a book she might like, because she wants to improve her vocabulary by starting to read her books in english.
I m having a bit of trouble with this, because I have no idea what book would be easy to read for someone that is just starting to read in english (I ve read in english my whole life).
So here s a list of books/authors she has read and liked (she read them in our native language):
1. Hail Mary and the Martian
2. Orson Scott Card
3. Dune (even the ones written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson)
4. George R R Martin
5. The Mistborn trilogy
6. 1q84, Haruki Murakami
7. The Forsyte Saga
8. Shogun
9. Tolkien
She has also read The Secret History (she said it was decent, but not the second coming of Christ) and one Robin Hobb book that bored her and she put it down.
She says she enjoys books in any genre, as long as they re “captivating”.
