    Title 🙂

I would prefer a book focussing on ancient and medieval Middle Eastern history, and which deals with religion but its not the focus. I’m more interested in other elements (history, culture, mathematics, politics etc)

    Thank you!

    1. Maybe you could start with ‘A Short History of the Middle East: From Ancient Empires to Islamic State’ by Gordon Kerr. It covers the period you are interested in and could give you some pointers to more specific references.

Sowing the Wind: The Seeds of Conflict in the Middle East by John Keay. I’ve used this one several times as a resource for research papers because it details the pre-Balfour through Suez period in a very engaging way.
