Just finished reading Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. I had picked it up because I’m a lover of sci-fi and this book was on a lot of lists for top books in the sci-fi genre. It is probably the worst book I’ve ever read, can someone explain to me what is so groundbreaking?
Without getting into spoilers and to keep the post short, the story was poor, the writing is atrocious (high-school students can write better, I’m not joking), there are 70+ pages of completely unnecessary religious history and several main characters’ stories don’t conclude. Even in the acknowledgements section at the back, the author admits he’s no scholar. How is this book so popular?
