I have aphantasia and I’m curious about others that have it too. When you read fiction, what is the main thing(s) you’re enjoying about it?
Personally, too much scenic detail can be tedious because we don’t picture it in our heads but I like following the growing underlying currents in stories such as themes/ messages. So for me, my enjoyment for fiction is heavily based on the concepts and ideas professed in the story. The story itself becomes a conduit for those concepts/ ideas. Those with aphantasia, why do you read fiction if you can’t see any of it unfold in your head?
