I’m looking for examples of “visual” gags in books. In film and TV, you often see background characters doing goofy capers out of focus. For example, a serious conversation is going on in the foreground, and a side character slips and falls in the background. Or a, “He’s standing right behind me, isn’t he?” moment. I think it’d be clumsy to write out a background sight gag, but I’m sure it’s happened! Any examples?
