I thought Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine was an exceptional book, but wow the marketing is very misleading. It looks like a heart warming novel, on the front cover it says “funny, touching, unpredictable”. I think it should say “triggering, harrowing, grim”. I went into it after a good day, productive at work, I’d helped some people in my network, productive with personal admin, time with family and friends. I read it in one night and was in floods of tears all night, barely slept and I’m thinking seriously about getting into therapy. It is not marketed as being this harrowing, or honestly I probably wouldn’t have touched it. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
