I’m currently in a reading slump where I just stop reading at about 80% through my books. Nothing is keeping my interest to the point of frustration.
My favorite books when I was younger:
The clan of the cave bear series by Jean m. Auel;
His dark materials by Phillip Pullman;
Timeline by Michael Crichton.
My favorite books in recent years:
Stormlight archive series;
Outlander series;
The unmaking of june farrow.
I’m not really a fan of YA, but did read Acotar and ToG series. They were ok, but i’m looking for a deeper story and better writing tbh. I’ve already read Harry Potter and all the usual YA recommendations.
I don’t like Steven King or Neil gaiman, and I’m tired of Dean Koontz and his mystical golden retrievers in every book. I don’t like Colleen hoover (boring). I don’t like YA. I don’t like short books. I don’t like anything about old Hollywood.
Recent books I’ve dnf because i lost all interest:
The push;
The invisible life of addie LaRue;
Dark matter;
Never lie.
Recent books that were ok (3/5 stars):
A flicker in the dark;
Pretty girls;
The 71/2 deaths of evelyn hardcastle;
The blade itself;
The nightingale;
All the light we cannot see.
I read A LOT but im just not finding books that engross me like I used to be able to find. I miss that feeling.
Now if anyone can recommend something I might like that I haven’t read I’d really really appreciate it. This reading slump is driving me nuts.
