I would like to read more books, however I struggle with a couple concepts.
Even when reading something I enjoy, I can’t help but wonder about the author, for example with books that tell an imaginary story. How can I overlook the fact that everything I’m reading is a figment of their imagination and the lessons I’m supposedly learning are not really applicable to real life simply because most scenarios are not real.
With self help books I also get very critical and realize that nearly all of them are quite generalized and haven’t really helped me in my case and even wonder if they truly helped anyone to begin with.
Are my thought processes kind of stupid? If so how can I overcome them and is there perhaps a genre that might be more fitting?
