I’ll be the first to admit that I’m picky, and as a result I’ve had a hard time finding novels that suit me lately. I like novels with quiet and weird settings, strange/unreliable narrators and a generally lonely feel. My favorite reads this year were Piranesi by Susanna Clarke and Donut by Tom Holt, both about strange, slightly obnoxious men getting transported to lonely, seemingly impossible fantasy/science fiction worlds. I also enjoyed reading the secret history while in school, and I’m open to more mystery books or cult stories. I’m not interested in books involving war, robots, and books with romance as the leading thread.
Please suggest me some novels!
(Oh, and I’m open to Dutch recommendations as well, in case anyone has those)
