The Iliad is one of my favorite books along with The odyssey and the Count of Monte Cristo.

And I never supported the movie Troy and the series Troy: Fall of a City because they bastardized the original material. mainly the characters Agamenon, Helen and Menelaus.

The Greeks believed that the Iliad and the Odyssey had been written by a single poet, whom they called Homer and titled because it reports an incident that occurred during the Greek siege of Ilion,.

In the first corners the poem focuses on the quarrel between Agamemnon and Achilles, the duel between Menelaus and Paris and the motif of the Greek siege, and then the epic focuses increasingly on Achilles, as his personal tragedy unfolds.

The hero’s disordered anger and anger are the main causes of the tragic outcome of the events around him during the Trojan War.

The Iliad is a beautiful work that deals with a battle of life and death in the name of the pride of men and gods, with a war that claimed the lives of great warriors much loved by their own, and this makes it impossible to read it without shedding copious tears. faced with Achilles’ suffering during Patroclus’ obsequies and upon hearing the words that his ghost addressed to his beloved mourning companion… it is even more impossible, once again, not to cry at Priam’s words as he begs Achilles to restore him body of his beloved son, Hector.

This great poem by Homer shows the madness of human desires, the unhappiness and dissatisfaction that affect even the gods of Olympus… it speaks of a happiness sought without ever being achieved amidst the irrationality of human passions.

During the Trojan War we see men placing the unattainable as the only objective capable of providing them with happiness, and in the midst of all this lives are taken, while others are lived to the limit, showing the tragicity of human existence and making it clear that the authors of this great tragedy are themselves.

Helen grew older, getting to know Paris better. and her love for him disappeared at the same time that she regretted leaving Menelaus for him. We can remember Cleopatra who chose Julius Caesar and Mark Antony as her lovers. She would choose a warrior husband. Her strong passion had disappeared and was giving way to her contempt for him and her guilt over her choices.
