Scary fiction books set during the ‘conquest of american land’ (either colonization or westward expansion, set between 1600 to 1900)

I’m basically looking for scary/horror fictions set during either the American colonization (think Roanoke horror) or the westward expansion (think weird west, scary Louisiana bayou etc). Basically any time period between the arrival of first settlers to the beginning of the 1900s.
