*The Stormlight Archives* by Brandon Sanderson are pretty epic. It is an ongoing series.

The **Hobbit** and the **Lord of the Rings** trilogy are the obvious answer as they pretty much defined the whole Epic Fantasy genre.
The **Belgariad** series (and its sequel series, the **Mallorean**) by **David Eddings** are very wide-ranging as they follow Garion, an orphaned farmboy who discovers that he has a massive destiny to fulfil…
^(Book 1 – Pawn of Prophecy)
The **Elenium** trilogy and the sequel **Tamuli** trilogy by the same author follow a deity-chosen Knight as he leads his companions in a quest that will end in a confrontation with an Elder God.
^(Book 1 – The Diamond Throne)
The **War God** series by **David Weber** has been half-jokingly called his personal D&D campaign in literary form and follows a barbarian hero in setting up an order of warriors to defend against the demonic forces seeking to enslave his nation and all of the others.
^(Book 1 – Oath Of Swords)
The **Paksenarrion** series by **Elizabeth Moon** follows a young woman who becomes a legendary warrior and Paladin of light.
^(Book 1 – Sheepfarmer’s Daughter)
The **Obsidian** trilogy by **Mercedes Lackey** and **James Mallory** covers an attempt by demons to invade/conquer a world during which they almost succeed in neutralising the magic-users whose magic style was created specifically to counter them.
^(Book 1 – The Outstretched Shadow)

Tolkien as as start (per usual). If you’re looking for a super-long series that you will devour, look up Feist’s Magician (and all the subsequent books).
Charvan on
The Wheel of Time. Currently rereading it, some of the best world building I’ve come across. I think every fan of the genre should attempt to read this series.

The Black Jewels, Bishop
Symphony of Ages, Haydon
Realm of the Elderlings, Hobb
And if you don’t mind unfinished, Saga of the Forgotten Warrior, Corriea

The Seven Kennings books, starting with [A Plague of Giants](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MR3ZVWK?ref_=dbs_m_mng_wim_calw_tkin_0&storeType=ebooks) by Kevin Hearne. My favorite epic fantasy series.
