Looking for a horror (or horror-ish/adjacent) book in which a major part of the horror is about generational trauma.

I haven’t read that much horror before (mainly fantasy and sf), but open to suggestions. I’ve read T Kingfisher’s A House With Good Bones, which was along the themes and vibes I was wanting, but was wondering if you had any more recommendations 🙂

Preferably no recommendations with SA, though I’m fine with it if its not gratuitous.

    1. I just read When the Reckening Comes and I think it would fit the bill. The generational horror/trauma that comes with slavery. I do believe there is mention of SA but it is not graphic.

    2. -GrouchyOkra- on

      – _Mapping the Interior_ by Stephen Graham Jones

      – _Mexican Gothic_ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, although this does explore abuse of power and the mistreatment of women (i.e. does contain SA, but I don’t think it’s done gratuitously)
