I’ve read so many books that center around specific houses. There’s the castle in The Haunting of Hill House, the boarding school in Looking for Alaska, even Jane Eyre has many houses: Thornfield Hall, Gateshead Hall, Moor House. The homes in Pride and Prejudice. The vacation home in Happy Place.

I think I would choose the big house Coraline and her family live in in Neil Gaiman’s novel. I like the idea of a big creaky old house with eccentric neighbors and a massive dying garden that’s waiting for my green thumb. I don’t even want or like kids, so the other mother isn’t really a threat. I don’t think it’s called the Pink Palace in the books, but the way it was brought to life in the movie made it even more desirable with its unique windows and the added details around the roof.

What fictional house from a book would you choose to live in? And why choose it?
