A friend of mine is an avid reader. More than avid. Scary, perhaps. She, of course, would very much like a book for the holidays.
Most of the time she occupies herself with the sort of Young/New Adult romance books. She reads to relax, most of the time. Normally when buying books for her, I’ll get her something a little left of field. For example, I got her House of Leaves last year, and she’s been chomping through that (when she has the energy).
I now want a book to make her cry. The more heartwrenching the better.
I doubt she’d be all that interested in nonfiction, I can’t see any on her Goodreads. Below is a list of some of the books she’s enjoyed.
– Fourth Wing, Yarross
– The Shards, Ellis
– Love, Theoretically, Hazelwood (and associated/similar books)
– A Little Life, Yanagihara
– Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, Zevin
Hopefully those books give some inspiration into what she might like (and more importantly, make her weep).
