I just finished the series and have possibly found one of my favorite books of all time, but now I find myself in a reading slump since nothing I picked up recently comes even remotely close to it.
What drew me in the most was mainly the scientific realism and the surprising philisophical depth it had, but definitely also the complexity of the characters and the general concept.
Another similar-ish book I have read and enjoyed almost as much is Hail Mary Project.

I love that series too! I recently started the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons and, although the science part of it is not remotely to the extent of Three Body Problem, there is a lot of imagination, humanity, and thoughtfulness that kind of scratches the same itch.
Forge of God, by Greg Bear is a better version.
