Two of my favorite read of the past year were:
The Trackers (Charles Frazier)
The Bartender’s Tale (Ivan Doig)
Both are beautifully written, character driven, and set in the U.S. West — but not Westerns. Looking for suggestions of other writers and books that are like Frazier and Doig. I’m open to other settings, too! It’s the character development, incorporation of historical events and setting into plot, and the prose of these two I love. Another favorite writer is Annie Proulx – have read everything of hers. Looking for others writers who might evoke a similar vibe to these three. Any suggestions?
