Opinions on Where the Crawdads Sing? I feel like I’m in the minority…
First, I thought the book was well-written. However. I did not like the book at all. I thought I was going to love it after all the amazing reviews but I was sooo disappointed. I felt like the nature writing was great and vivid but then it got to the point where it was just too much. I understood Kya’s life and what was going on, but some chapters just seemed so “routine.” Like Kya goes to Jumpin’s, Kya makes lunch/dinner, Kya goes to bed. Next chapter. I was so bored. I was intrigued by her relationships and thought that was good and added more depth. The crime/trial scenes were great, but they literally were only at the end of the book. Overall, too much back and forth, bland scenes, and just boring.
