Edit: As I mentioned in my title, looking for **Asian** fiction
Really, really enjoyed these:
1. Out by Natsuo Kirino
2. In Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami
3. The Lady Killer by Masako Togawa
4. The Devotion of Suspect X
Less what I’m looking for but still good:
1. The Good Son (lacking in the urban element but otherwise pretty great story)
2. Strange weather in Tokyo (not crime fiction, but I liked the portrayal of lost lonely people in urban Tokyo)
3. Convenience Store Woman (I guess I didn’t like this as much as Strange Weather in Tokyo because the protagonist was a bit too clearly on the spectrum rather than like “run of the mill” urban loneliness and disillusion)
4. Kim Ji-young, Born 1982 (liked the social commentary about urban working women in modern Korea and what options they have upon reaching a certain age, plot was not thrilling but not expected to be)
In contrast, **I really did not like The Plotters.** It was too surreal for me. I guess my priorities are realistic urban environment and 2. fast moving plot
