I’m looking for some stories or books that are entertaining or thought-provoking – something that will make me feel similar to what watching Love Death + Robots feels like, if that makes sense. Any genre is fine.
I also used to absolutely love the Goosebumps novels by R. L. Stine when I was a kid if anything fits that type of category for adults.

All Systems Red (Murderbot #1)
I know you will get a ton of good suggestions here. But in the future, you should also look up “novellas” to see what catches your eye. These are novels in short form.
– A Terrifying Taste of Short and Shivery : Thirty Creepy Tales
– Even More Short & Shivery: Thirty Spine-Tingling Tales
Both are by Robert D. San Souci.
Oh, I’m super excited about this request—here are my favorite thought-proving novellas:
– *Elder Race* by Adrian Tchaikovsky
– *Feed Them Silence* by Lee Maldonado
– *Silently, and Very Fast* by Catherynne Valete
– *The Six Deaths of the Saints* by Alix E. Harrow
– *The Crane Husband* by Kelly Barnhill
And I will second u/ReddisaurusRex’s rec for *All Systems Red*.
Maybe take a look at *All You Need is Kill* by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
Two by Claire Keegan that I loved – Small Things Like These; and Foster
What We Talk About When We Talk About Love- Raymond Carver
Interpreter of Maladies- Jhumpa Lahiri
The Empress of Salt and Fortune, Nghi Vo
Blind Owl by Sadeq Hadayet. Incredibly unsettling
