I just went through the emotional roller coaster of re-reading all 4 Hunger Games books and watching all the movies in order (including the new one). I am dealing with major book universe withdrawal.

So any recommendations for books with a similar feel, ideally not YA, ideally written by a woman, no love triangle (I’m not a fan of them in general, the Hunger Games being the only exception) and with more than 3 books in the series?

What I loved most about the Hunger Games were :

    1. How strong Katniss was- it is pretty rare to have strong and capable female characters
    2. That Katniss wasn’t a natural at dealing with people
    3. That Peeta was relatively less powerful and needed to rely on Katniss at times
    4. That there was a somewhat natural build-up of the romance between her and Peeta
    5. That the books are addicting- I can’t quite put my finger on why, but they are very hard to put down.

Yes, I read Divergent back in the day- I don’t feel the need to re-read it though.

Other books I love: The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire, The Chronicles of Elantra by Michelle Sagara, The Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn, and The Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews.
