Firstly, I absolutely adore the book so far. I’m about 3/4 of the way through it and I’ve never felt so disturbed, suffocated and horrified by a book.
BUT I do have a question about one of the scenes in the book that I didn’t quite understand. Why does the doctor sleep with the girl with dark glasses? And why was his wife okay with it?
I understand everything about this section apart from that scene. I understand the women choosing to sleep with men before the… thing happens, but the doctor himself got up and slept with her, despite his wife. I don’t understand the point of the scene and why it was written to seem like a big deal. I genuinely think I’m missing something. Help? Was he just trying to desensitise himself to sex, because of what was about to happen?
I’d appreciate some light shed on it!
