I want to let this all out of my system as I’m getting pretty annoyed by modern bestsellers.
I noticed these trends are becoming more prevalent in other bestsellers such as “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” and “The Great alone”
1. Dumping of trauma later into the story
2. Half-baked characters with poor motivations
3. Focus on popular themes or trends which may or may not contribute to the story
Also, any suggest some modern authors who you enjoy reading? Very sick of seeing the same authors on the recommendations and bestsellers nowadays.
Edit: After thinking for a while maybe “My year of rest and relaxation” is not a good example. What is Booktok, and how do you feel about it?
