For me it’s Blood Meridian. It’s a fantastic depiction of the devil leading sinners across a godless land in one interpretation, and a stark depiction of life in the American frontier in the other.
However, the aggressive violence and constant use of the “Kick the dog” writing technique burnt me out incredibly quickly. Plus my modern sensibilities made the realistic language for a book set in the 1800s a huge turn off for me.
