I have seen translated books being recognized for years and have been awarded NYT Bestsellers, Goodreads Choice Awards, etc. Some even turn into a hit movie or TV show. But why don’t the translators get an award themselves? Don’t get me wrong, I know the books they have been translating are not their work, but it sure is as tedious to translate as it is to write. They have a responsibility to translate and, most importantly, deliver the same impact as the original language did. Those books wouldn’t have been recognized worldwide if it weren’t for those people who translated them and delivered the same impact as the original did.
I have read a lot of well-known book that has been translated into English. They need to be known and appreciated at the very least.
