We talk quite a bit about books, today I wanted to ask you all about your favorite bookstores. It is probably not a stretch to assume that people on this sub find visiting bookstores energizing. For me, a good bookstore is like entering a place of power. I always leave the store happier and feeling better (and with at least one good book!). These are my favorites:
1. \[The Big One\] Powell Books Portland: such an amazing place, you can spend literal hours just browsing and admiring. Their Rare Books Room is also fantastic. The closest place to heaven on Earth. It’s something every book lover should experience at least once.
2. \[The Artisanal One\] Lamplight Books Seattle: I love this bookstore. The location in the Pike Place Market is top notch. I always get the feeling to be entering the bookstore of the Neverending Story when I go. It’s a small bookstore but the selection is fantastic. You can really tell that the owner (who usually is at the shop), handpicks every single book that is there with great care. It’s a work of love.
3. \[The Commercial One\] Indigo Bookstore Downtown Montreal: I love the Indigo Bookstore. It gives a Barnes & Noble vibe but it feels more independent. It’s at the heart of Montreal, right where the underground city is, so you can just take the Metro there in cold winter days and spend hours browsing and reading.
There are many more to mention, but I’d say these are my top three. What are yours?
