I love stories with a ‘blind start’ (when characters are dropped into unsettling and mysterious situations without knowing why or how). Think of the 1997 movie *Cube*, or Stuart Turton’s *The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle*. I recently read *House of Stairs* which has a blind start, but it was underwhelming.
So, what books can you recommend that incorporate blind starts for the characters?
