Not sure if that’s too vague a request haha. Looking for something pretty wholesome and cosy I guess, with sweet relationships between characters (platonic or otherwise) to make me forget feeling alone for a while. Any fiction will do, but bonus points if there’s magic or fantasy involved 🙂

The Last Chance Library, by Freya Sampson- This is cozy fluff. If it were a sandwich, it would be white bread and strawberry jam. Endearing characters, with very sweet relationships that develop during story. More character than plot driven. Loner girl finds friendship, community, and love. Beach-read level.

A Man Called Ove, Fredrik Backman. I’ve only read two books by Backman, and I’ve appreciated how very “human” they are. TW: Suicidal thoughts on this one, but ultimately it is about finding love in community.

Anxious People, same author. This is written in the second person, and some people don’t like it for that reason. However, I appreciated how the quirks and personal tragedies of the various characters are slowly revealed over the course of the story, the tenderness with which he treats the oddballs, and the overall sense of understanding and friendship that can develop among strangers that the book ultimately celebrates.

Sourdough: A novel, Robin Sloan: This one has a fantasy element (more magical realism). It’s a nice little story where a young woman caught up in the crazy world of tech-startups finds her happiness and love in baking…with a little help from a magical and mysterious sourdough starter. Will have special meaning for anyone familiar with the San Fran sourdough scene, but still enjoyable for people like me, who have never set foot in CA, lol.

    2. The Anne of Green Gables series is very sweet. Full of nice characters. If you like the first one, then you can go on with the series.
