My sister (15 yo) was recently hospitalized and she’s really bored. They’re not permitted any electronics for any amount of time but they’re permitted books in soft covers with the condition that they don’t contain any death, violence, drug or alcohol abuse and other heavy topics
(unfortunately, I don’t have an official guideline, the hospital’s website doesn’t have one and this information is like third hand)

I’m struggling to come up with something to give her, since her favorite genres are murder mysteries and horror. She also read and quite enjoyed some xianxia danmei novels but those aren’t sold in softbacks where we live and are all clearly labeled 18+ because it features LGBTQ+ (Our country is homophobic on institutional level) She read Harry Potter and said it was fun but she wasn’t a big fan of it. She also enjoys anime, her favorite being Demon slayer and Bungou Stray dogs (I am not an anime watcher myself so I have no idea what kind of books that could recommend)

    So, I’m asking for help.

P.s. I gave The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho to be given her for now, bought it recently for myself and it was the only softcover I had in my collection that could fit the criteria (at least a quick google search told me so, I haven’t even started it yet, hopefully the staff lets it through)
