perusing a charity thrift store today, which is one of my favorite stops for books, I picked up a copy of Jean Auel’s Plains of Passage.
If you don’t know Jean Auel, she is a writer who penned Clan of the Cave Bear along with a host of novels focusing on pre-historic history and I’m not aware of any other author who utilizes this genre. Cave Bear was a monster book, turned into a decent film featuring a young and sexy Darryl Hannah that stayed somewhat true to the book.
Anyway, there were 3 HC Books at the store. Clearly, they’d been in an attic or garage in a box for years (the dust was still on them) but the awesome part is, opening them, turns out they’re all 1st editions Plains of Passage, Shelters of Stone, and Land of Painted Caves. And to top it off, Plains of Passage was personalized and autographed by Jean Auel….so, I’ve now got an autographed first edition of a Jean Auel novel for which I paid $2.
