I’ve been here before but led to nothing. Not because of a lack of suggestions, this subreddit has been wonderful in that respect, just nothing that particularly piqued my interest.
For some backstory, I used to read a lot as a child, and eventually grew up just enough to start reading books like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Percy Jackson, with Percy Jackson being my favorite book series to this day. Unfortunately, I started struggling a little with school and had to dedicate more time to it and eventually stopped reading thinking it was “just not worth it”. Its been some years since then and I’ve picked up an occasional book here and there and I really miss it. Now that I have more time to myself I wanted to get going again and do something that brought little me a lot of joy.
I’m not exactly sure what it was about Percy Jackson that made it so spectacular to me but if I had to guess, the adventure, brand new plot, the slow burn with Percy and Annabeth, and of course Rick Riordan’s amazing story-telling, just tickled my brain right.
Anyone have any suggestions for maybe similar-genre books/series I could try out? And preferably something that would be easily available in bookstores near me, I don’t really like reading e-books. Any and all suggestions are appreciated, feel free to ask any questions to clarify on anything as I’m fairly active.
EDIT: I’m not sure if this helps at all but during this interval I’ve grown really fond of science fiction due to my obsession on doctor who. I haven’t read any science fiction books but am very open to try 🙂
