I recently started reading a Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man as my first Joyce book and my first classic overall. I’m enjoying it and finding it to be easy enough, probably because I’m an Irish 15 year old, so I understand much of the slang and what Stephen is thinking/ feeling. The only part I haven’t understood is the “Goneboro toboro lookboro atboro aboro houseboro,” so if anyone can clarify that for me, I’ll be very grateful.
I’m also wondering what I should read next. I think Ulysses will be good, but difficult and time-consuming, so I could leave it until summer, when I have more time. Should I read it or wait and read some Dostoyevsky in the mean time?
