    Hi! I’m looking for some ideas for a book to gift my boss.

    He gifted each of my coworkers a book with a thoughtful blurb saying why the book reminded him of us/why he thought we would like it. We would like to gift him a thoughtful book in return, but are having trouble thinking of a good book/gift idea.

    Here’s some genres/things he likes that we’ve talked about in the past:
    * Sci-Fi
    * Network biology/medicine (he studied this)
    * Immunology, cancer biology, infectious diseases (we work at a biotechnology company)
    * Music/instruments (he can play the piano and is learning the bass I think?)

    If it helps, these are some of books he gifted us that he’s read and enjoyed in the past:
    * Essentialism – Greg McKeown
    * Dare to lead – Brené Brown
    * Grit – Angela Duckworth

    He likes to read on his kindle, so I know we could always try for a gift card as a fallback option.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!!!

      Best recommendation I can give (I loved it):

      * Altered Carbon – Richard Morgan (trilogy)
      * Future humans discovered the ability to store your conscience in a piece of technology that can be transferred between human bodies (called sleeves). After his initial body was killed, the MC ends up hundreds of years in the future to solve the murder of someone in a new body. NOTE, the book gets very dark at times. Has a lot of sci-fi/cyberpunk elements

      Note, these might be cheesy given your level of knowledge in your industry, so please check them out first xd:

      * Immortal Life – Stanley Bing
      * In the future, rich people discovered the ability to replace artificial limbs/organs with artificial 3d printed limbs. Humans have implants in their skull that allows them to connect digitally to the web. One rich guy is trying to steal someones body and download his conscience into it. NOTE: The opening scene is sexual (wife & mostly artificial husband), if that happens to be a problem
      * Deadly Design – Debra Dockter
      * Might be too much of a “teen” book. The MCs are twin brothers (in vitro). One was cryogenically frozen as an embryo so they are 2 years apart. The scientist who performed the in vitro did something to them. The younger one is on a rush to undo what happened to him before he shares the same fate as his brother

    2. >* Network biology/medicine (he studied this)

      >* Immunology, cancer biology (we work at a biotechnology company)

      *The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race* by Walter Isaacson

      >* Essentialism – Greg McKeown

      >* Grit – Angela Duckworth

      *The Good Life: Lessons from the World’s Longest Scientific Study of Happiness* by Robert J. Waldinger and Marc Schulz

      You’re lucky to have such a thoughtful boss. Hope this helps.
