I’m an average fantasy enjoyer (love Diana Wynne Jones, Neil Gaiman, Eleanor Farjeon, Hayao Miyazaki, etc) and an average beatnik/urban Pulp enjoyer (love Burroughs, Kerouac, David Goodis, Alan Sillitoe).
Is there a book that joins both? The content of a fantasy book, and the Slick and light prose of an urban novel? Maybe written in a Stream of consciousness? A novel like this exists?

It is sci fi, but Neuromancer is the obvious choice to me. In fact I see the beatnik style way more in science fiction. Some parts of the Viriconium fantasy series could be considered that too.
For those who love fairy tales reimagined, ‘Uprooted’ by Naomi Novik is a novel I often recommend. It’s a captivating story inspired by Eastern European folklore, with a strong and relatable heroine who discovers her own power in a world filled with magic and danger.
