My niece is about to turn 11 and is recently showing some interest in reading, FINALLY, but she’s struggling to find books that she’s into. Even though she’s not much of a reader yet she reads really well, and she seems more drawn to books for older kids, which can sometimes be inappropriate.
I’m of the mind that there’s very little you’re ever too young to read, but I’m not her mom, so I can exactly give her some Stephen King and hope for the best.

    1. She’s a new reader, so it’s still a bit hard for her to focus her attention. Although she reads well, if she stumbles too much on anything she’ll lose interest.
    2. She’s currently really into k-pop and Korean pop culture in general.
    3. She seems to like romance, but she’s picky, and called several of my suggestions “cringe” lol
    4. Right now she won’t even give a book a chance if the cover isn’t interesting.
    5. Lots of dialogue, white space, and shorter paragraphs if possible would be helpful.

Honestly any suggestions would be helpful. I’m racking my brain. We all want to encourage her as much as we can to at least get her into the habit of reading. Then she can take it from there.
