A pretty simple question. Is there any book or book series that you’ve been waiting for a sequel for for a while now, but it still hasn’t come out? Bonus points if a sequel has been announced to be in the works, but its been cooking for ages.

Kingkiller Chronicles, Song of Ice and Fire, so on and so forth.

As an extra question, why do you think it hasn’t come out yet?

    1. Probably a deep cut but I would love more books in the Deathscent series by Robin Jarvis.

It’s been 22 years since the first so doubt it’s going to happen!

All of the JD Salinger material that was promised when the opened his vault. Nine years later, still waiting.

Been waiting for a follow up on the third Gentleman Bastards Sequence book by Scott Lynch.

    4. Still waiting on L J Smith to finish the Night World series. It was supposed to herald the new millennium!

The 10th installment of Night World by L J Smith. Never gonna happen.

I really want to reread the series because of how fond my memories are of it when I was about 12, but I don’t want to get burned by the lack of ending again.

I’ve been waiting years for the sequel to The Name of the Wind! Can’t wait to see what happens to Kvothe next!

    7. Book 3 in the Territories trilogy by Stephen King and Peter Straub. Straub sadly passed last year, but King is saying they were discussing the book and is planning on writing it himself.

    8. At this point I’ve resigned myself to the fact that we’re not getting any conclusion to ASOIAF.

The show ending sucked, GRRM saw how fans received it and is likely realizing that he’s written himself into a corner, and on top of that he’s too busy cash-grabbing on every Game of Thrones related intellectual property he can to finish the main books.

He’s like 75 already, and in terrible shape. Even if by some miracle he releases *The Winds of Winter* tomorrow morning, *A Dream of Spring* is never coming out. He’s the kind of guy who would specify in his will that no one is allowed to finish the series for him posthumously.

All we will have is fanfiction and subverted expectations.

I mainly read non-fiction (a lot of history), so naturally, the only fiction sequel was already mentioned: The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, ASOIAF 6 and 7
