Recommendations for a book about afterlife?

I would like to get my dad a book about how we are connected to our loved ones after they pass. This is his first Christmas without his brother and mom and I would like something to help bring him comfort. He loves to read, he’s not very religious but also not atheist, into history/science if that helps. Thank you!
