Before Halloween, I rewatched the original 1990 movie and then the new remakes for the first time. After spending 9ish hours with the story, I decided it was finally time to read the book. I made this decision with trepidation, because I’ve pretty much hated every King book I’ve read. I was able to overlook that because it’s not the writing I hated, but that at some point King basically says *OK, now let’s get stupid*. Since I already know the story, I’ll at least be prepared.
I started reading on Halloween. It’s been a month and a half and even though I’m enjoying it (*It?*), I’m kinda ready to start something new. I don’t read a lot of long books. So instead of listening to a different book at work, I decided to pick up where I left off with It. It happens to be just before the kids’ showdown (Chapter 18-6).
Steven Weber is amazing! He puts so much emotion into his reading. I’m relatively new to audiobooks, but this is the best narration I’ve ever heard, especially from a single narrator.
I personally consider listening cheating a little bit (for me), so in my mind there’s going to be a minor asterisk next to It. But I don’t care. I’m not sure I’ll read any more and instead let Steven Weber take me there.
(side note: do any other old people still see Steven Weber and Tim Daly as brothers?)
