I loved the show and I am really, really going to miss it. I hope someone knows about a book that will give me the same heartfelt feelings in an unexpected scenario.
Who would have thought there would be strong women, emotionally connected men, and a found family that felt too good to just be a show?

You want A Long way to A Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
[Steven Rowley’s *The Celebrants*](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/62049729) is a very different kind of story, but the themes of found family and perserverance and humor are all present.
[*American Hippo* by Sarah Gailey](https://publishing.tor.com/americanhippo-sarahgailey/9781250176424/) might also be an interesting one to try out. It’s funny in an absurdist way, and also has a motley crew finding their way together.
Nick Hornby might be a good option. My personal favourite is About a Boy.
A man called ove by Fredrick backman
It’s been a long time since I read it, but maybe The World According to Garp.
