Is your partner in to cars and how things work and stuff? If so, you could try and get a copy of the Haynes Baby Manual:

      [https://www.amazon.com/Haynes-Baby-Manual-Conception-Years/dp/1844250598/ref=sr_1_1](https://www.amazon.com/Haynes-Baby-Manual-Conception-Years/dp/1844250598/ref=sr_1_1)

Haynes makes car manuals. For instance:

      [https://www.amazon.com/Pick-up-Bronco-1980-1996-F-250HD-Automotive/dp/1620920107/ref=sr_1_1](https://www.amazon.com/Pick-up-Bronco-1980-1996-F-250HD-Automotive/dp/1620920107/ref=sr_1_1)

The Baby Manual follows the same format, with clear, straight forward step-by-step instructions and how-to guides on keeping your baby content and running smoothly.

It’s good fun. And treating a baby like a car is a light-hearted way to approach the subject. But the advice is serious, practical and set out in a way that’s accessible and easy to parse.

      EDIT

I see there’s now also this one:

Haynes Explains Babies: Production and delivery – Oil changes – Identifying leaks – Emission control (Owners’ Workshop Manual)
      [https://www.amazon.com/Haynes-Explains-Babies-Production-Identifying/dp/1785211021/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top=](https://www.amazon.com/Haynes-Explains-Babies-Production-Identifying/dp/1785211021/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top=)

It’s a bit more up to date. I’m not sure how much babies have changed in the intervening time. But there it is.

Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents. It’s not a parenting book, but god I wish my parents had read it.
