Hello everyone. This is probably really dumb but I have problems reading books. I joined 4 months ago and read 3 books (the alchemist, metamorphosis and notes from underground). We have a rule where we have to read from (?) page to (?) in one week and every saturday we have a discussion section where we would talk about what we read, our opinion and facilitators ask us questions. They are not only nice and where but also they explained to us the parts where we don’t understand. The problem for me is not the club but myself. When I read I felt like I’m just reading words but not understand the situtation. I could not vision what happening with my eyes. I have to read again and again then I understand. It really takes me long time and write down notes so that I would not forget. Is there any advice or tips to improve my reading.

Have you tried listening to an audio version? It could be that visual reading just isn’t the best way for you to ingest the books. If you have a library card, you could check out an audio copy (via a physical audio disk or Libby) and listen to it instead and see if that helps. It would also free you up to write down notes because then you don’t have to go back and forth between your book and your notepad. If that doesn’t help, perhaps the people running the group could offer you some pointers.
