So, I used to be an avid reader. Nowhere near my sibling but I still read a lot of books as a kid. I especially ejoyed the books school assigned (stuff like The Giver, 1984, Hatchet, Fahrenheit 451), but i also enjoyed stuff like Percy Jackson and FableHaven, Lord of the Rings is fantastic too. But i’ve noticed as i’ve gotten older, and my ADHD as well as other issues have gotten worse, as much as I want to read more i’m struggling to.
My goal for 2024 is to read 6 books that year, one per two months as I think thats reasonable and within my limits. But i’m not sure how to counter act my ADHD. Reading takes a lot of mental effort and I find myself going towards Tiktok, Netflix or videogames when I could be and want to be reading. I’m not sure if i’m just not grabbing the right books or if its some other contributing factor.
If anyone has any suggestions on ways to hopefully make this goal more obtainable and curb the ADHD that’d be fantastic, I desperately want to read like I used to.
