Earlier this year i read The Troop by Nick Cutter and loved it. truly shook me. i noticed how very familiar the writing style was to me. the complex subplots, the flashbacks, the voices in characters heads, etc. Even some of the sentence structures stood out to me as very Stephen King-esque.

i am now halfway through The Deep by Nick Cutter and again, struck by the similarities to King. even has a standpipe storyline (something i remember from a few King books, namely It). Not a criticism, just an observation.

Anyone else read any Cutter novels?
Any other authors you’ve noticed that have this style so heavily reminiscent of King? I would love to read more horror/thriller in the same vein, but would like to branch out from Stephen King in particular, even though i always will return to him.
