      – **Project Hail Mary** and **The Martian** by Andy Weir are two of my favorites. Both sci-fi comedies that are hilarious, uplifting, creative, and reflect Weir’s endless optimism about humanity.

      – **The Thursday Murder Club** by Richard Osman. This is a book series about a bunch of bored older people who start a true crime club at their retirement home. Hilarious. Each book is a new murder to solve.

      – **Starter Villain** by John Scalzi. Your average slacker schlub lives in sweatpants with his cat in a tiny apartment. Then one day he unexpectedly inherits his uncle’s supervillain business – complete with island volcano lair.

      – **Number Go Up** by Zeke Faux. This one is a bit of a stretch because it is a non-fiction that does have some serious parts. But Faux’s journey into the crazy world of cryptocurrency and NFTs is generally weird, amusing, and informative. If you were ever curious about this emergent technology, it’s a great primer with a lot of funny anecdotes.

      – **The Zombie Survival Guide** by Max Brooks. A parody of real survival guides that gives pretty hilarious advice for those prepping for the zombie apocalypse.

      – **John Dies At the End** series by David Wong/Jason Pargin (Pargin wrote under a pseudonym for the first books). Before you object (since the title sounds like not the best for grieving people) hear me out! The series follows a group of supernatural professionals who are tasked with saving the world from different apocalypses in each book. It’s freaking hilarious and every book has a wider social commentary that kept me thinking about the books even when I wasn’t reading them.

    2. For a romance that delves into the complexities of marriage and personal growth, ‘The Bridges of Madison County’ by Robert James Waller is a novel I suggest. It’s a poignant and reflective tale about a brief, passionate affair that has lifelong repercussions.
