So my wife and I are having a little girl! I am so excited, and while I know that there are a lot of children’s books that have a female perspective. I was hoping to get recommendations for books to read that have a feminist/strong young women’s perspective! When our daughter is born, I want to read her these types of books. In part because I hope that she’ll internalize it but also because I want to be able to recommend her books that have strong young women’s perspectives when she is older. I know about Hunger Games, Tiffany Aching, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Mistborn but what other books would you suggest? I typically like fantasy, scifi and my wife loves mystery books.
I’m open to anything you can recommend, we love reading and want to pass that along! But I also recognize that children’s books can have a a profound impact and want to start preparing!

The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale is one of my top recommendations. The main character is incredibly gentle and kind but also daring and brave. I love her.
