*My Year of Rest and Relaxation* is womanhood with no prospect of romance (there’s a past relationship mentioned but it’s minor to the plot) at all. It’s basically a lot of the very unglamorous parts of womanhood.

    2. You’d get more responses, I think , if you provided more detail – not too much, but more than this – in your post; you’re expecting Redditors to do too much work, and that’s why you haven’t had many responses.

Suggest you re-post and be more specific. Good luck!

    3. Anne Patchett, in various essays and a memoir in multiple books, has explored marriage and choosing not to have children in essays, which is what you don’t want, but she has other essays related to friendship (including a dual memoir about her friendship with Lucy Grealy called Truth and Beauty) and things like fathers, in an essay about the three father figures she has in her life. You’d need to pick out which ones worn for you and your interest. There also an essay about becoming a small business owner with a book store she runs with another woman.

    4. For a romance that delves into the complexities of marriage and personal growth, ‘The Bridges of Madison County’ by Robert James Waller is a novel I suggest. It’s a poignant and reflective tale about a brief, passionate affair that has lifelong repercussions.
