A recent post asking to un-recommend some books to help purge the OP’s TBR made me realize my own TBR is not very long, only 27 books long! I find that when picking my next book to read, I’m not in the mood for any of them so I keep ending up in a reading slump.
Here are some examples and genres I have liked in the last year or so:
Fiction
– Mystery/thriller (I love Agatha Christie but did not like The Silent Patient which I felt was too reliant on the big “twist”)
– Horror (not too graphic, I really liked Misery)
– Women’s Prize for Fiction (I loved Demon Copperhead and The Marriage Portrait)
– Fantasy (loved The Priory of the Orange Tree and have enjoyed most Brandon Sanderson)
Non-Fiction
– Memoirs (I loved In the Dream House)
– Books that are about an interesting niche topic that you didn’t know you cared about until you read a book on it.
– Self-help (a guilty pleasure honestly)
Hoping to start the new year of reading with a more exciting TBR!
