Hey! Every year for Christmas I give my employees books to inspire or better themselves – they actually seem to really like it. This year I have a new employee who is absolutely fantastic at his job, however (partly because he’s so talented) he has an inflated ego or entitlement. Some of the things he does:
\- Lies to make himself seem bigger or more important
\- Never admits when he makes a mistake and always blames something or someone else
\- He gets jealous of other members of the team when they get something he wants or feels he should be getting
\- He’ll treat others on the team as lesser than him
He’s young, so a lot of this gets fixed with maturity over time, but I want to help him with it. Anybody have any recommendations for a book that teaches him to deflate his ego? Nothing to on-the-nose like “Ego is not your amigo” where if I give him the book he’ll see it as a “fuck you”. Thanks!

I…would not want to get any kind of self-help book from my boss. I’d rather just have the twenty bucks or the jelly-of-the-month-club.
